Life in Newtonville has a walk-to-dinner, catch-the-train rhythm to it. Walnut and Washington Streets carry the village's day-to-day — coffee, groceries at Whole Foods, a quick bite — all within a few blocks of most homes here. Catch the Commuter Rail right in the village and you're in downtown Boston without touching your car, or hop the Pike if you're headed the other way.

It's Newton's biggest village, so the housing mixes classic New England homes with newer condo living, and neighbors spill easily into Nonantum, Newton Corner, Newton Centre, West Newton, and West Newton Hill — worth browsing all five if you're house-hunting here.
